Bridge serving Intake, Tafelkop, Nkoselweni, and Zwelibomvu areas

Who is affected

Peri-urban/rural-fringe communities from clinics, schools, and workplaces.

What has happened at this site

The bridge was washed away in the 2022 floods, completely isolating these peri-urban/rural-fringe communities from clinics, schools, and workplaces. Nearby bridges (e.g., Shallcross/Queensburgh links) have also been repeatedly damaged and repaired by residents themselves.

Public benefit when complete

Short-span steel deployment would quickly restore access and build resilience in flood-prone valleys giving more than 15 000 people daily usage and access to essential services.
